ANNOUNCEMENT OF CHANGES TO THE DISCUSSION LIST

It is the expectation that the changes to the discussion list will allow the
free flow of information with a improved communication atmosphere.

The discussion list is one of the many informational resources available to
the Coronado Neighborhood. It remains the goal of the discussion list to be
"the" source for the most current up to date realtime information available
in the "hood". And to be the "best" resource to begin to meet neighbors and
develop a sense of community about who "we" are, and what "we" think. It is
an excellent place to discover what your neighbors "do" and how "you" may
want to become involved with them. It is important to speak up and add to
the discussion as well as introduce topics that are of interest to you.

The new address of the discussion list will be
central-phoenix-discuss at centralphoenix.org, your subscription to the list
serve has not been changed, however you will need to update your address
book to reflect the new address. If you send to the old address you will
receive an auto reply informing you of the new e-mail address. You do not
need to re-subscribe.

You may go to the subscribe page http://www.centralphoenix.org/list to
change any of the original choices you have made, for example to receive the
discussion in it's digest form, rather than in realtime.

You can read the October 5, 2006 committee report, philosophy and
conclusions here <http://www.centralphoenix.org/committee_report.htm> .

Comments and suggestions can be sent to whatevercomments at cox.net if you
would prefer to have a comment addressed on the list serve as a "whatever
comment".

Please make note of the disclaimer posted at the bottom of each posting:

The messages exchanged on this list in no way reflect the official

position of the Coronado Neighborhood association or centralphoenix.org.
This e-mail list is maintained by an outside source, with no financial tie,
or

editorial directive from the Coronado Neighborhood Association.

CENTRAL PHOENIX DISCUSSION LIST SERVE GUIDELINES

http://www.centralphoenix.org/cpd_list_guidelines.htm

There are two notable changes to the way the list serve will function:

1.	When you hit the "reply" button your reply will be sent to the
sender only. You must click on the "reply to all" button to send your
response to the entire list.

This will:

* allow you to give your reply a second thought before you send it to
the entire list serve in an effort to avoid accidental sends. We ask that
you examine your message and ask "Does it fit the guidelines for the entire
list or is it better send offline?"

* encourage you to send personal information only to those who may be
trusted with that information, rather than the entire list serve. This
includes addresses, phone numbers, descriptions of you and/or your habits at
home.

* avoid the "stack" of replies back and forth containing information
that should stay between the sender and the recipient.

2.	Self-moderation of the list serve using your personal computer to
monitor your e-mail. Use your blocking ability to prevent unwanted emails
from senders you do not want to communicate with.

If enough people block a sender, the subscribers themselves will have
effectively removed them from the list serve through the determination of
those who are using the list serve. This avoids the problem that arises
when an outside moderator interprets guidelines and rules for others. If
we each make that decision for ourselves then the problem is solved.

This will also preserve the "realtime" postings of subscribers, so that if
you have lost a dog, you can see if someone has found one right away, or to
be up dated on safety issues without the delay of moderator review.

The list serve committee feels that we should each take on the personal
responsibility for maintaining a positive atmosphere on the list serve and
respect that others can do the same. On this list serve you will be
communicating with only the people who "you choose" to communicate with.

We hope that you will embrace the new guidelines and remember if you want to
be heard then you must communicate with the largest number of people. This
discussion list cannot guarantee that you will be heard, only you can do
that.
