Wonder if we could start a "Pride in your Neighborhood' type campaign
--flyers saying that or" it's your hood, don't trash it."
Hand out flyers in English and Spanish--or even just where there are offenses, as a kind of prompting. Would love to put some on the high schoolers that park in front of my house then leave their lunch trash. Maybe they would put up posters at the high school.
Jo, you could leave them on those cars you mentioned--all that , of course, in addition to what you're doing.

Neighbors,
I got a second wind in my sail and made attempts to contact the owners of these blighted apartments on Oak St.
Here is the info: (there are a total of 7 buildings)
1527 E Oak is owned by a gentleman who does not speak english so I had some difficulty speaking with him. Does anyone speak spanish that could talk with him? His number is 602-320-7311
1501, 1505, and 1515 E. Oak are Owned by a gentleman named Matt who owns Mediteranean Grill on scottsdale and McDowell. His number is 480-635-2927. He is definitely willing to do whatever it takes to improve the area. He had a few suggestions and also lives just West of Coronado on the other side of 7th ST. He said he would try to come to the next neighborhood meeting and become a member of the list serve.
1509 E Oak is owned by an out of state gentleman but is managed by a Real Estate Company. Their number is 480-635-2927. They believe that they are doing a great job with their management and were a bit defensive about me wanted to talk with the actual owner. He said the he will talk with the owner and see if the owner is willing to talk with me but went on and on about the illegalities of changing tenants....He said that he had two families in his units that have been there for a few years and are very good tenants. At that moment I was talking with him, I drove by his particular unit and informed him of all of the clotheslines streaming from one building to another, cars parked 2 inches from the front doors, trash and broken beer bottles all over the front of their units, shopping carts......He said that we will send a letter. He also stated that if we-or someone came up with a solution..i.e. a decorative three foot high high (pretty) fence meandering in the front (to prevent the multitude of cars parking on the front area or inbetween the unity)would be something the owner would probably consider.or painting or any kind of improvement (more trees?)
The other number I have is 602-942-1410 which a message was left.
If nothing else I envision this architectural fence which would add to the aesthetics and if the front of the buildings facing Oak were painted with murels or at least different colors, it would at least make these units pleasing to the eye and then maybe attract a higher level of tenant..
Does anyone have any feedback on this or suggestions?
Thanks
Jody
