Something similiar to that, a while back we had a roach problem that we 
couldn't seem to solve. Someone told me to leave out little dishes of catnip 
in cabinets and places where they seemed to go more often. It seemed to work 
pretty well. Then again, around the same time we also started using the 
Combat brand paste and traps and they work extremely well. Anyhow, the 
catnip did seem to get the roaches out from the cabinets. So I guess these 
'home remedy' type things really work sometimes.


(Or maybe it just made the cats hyper enough that they started pulling 
double time with the bug catching?)

Maybe I am too late... but I forgot to mention in my previous response,
another NON LETHAL and HUMANE way to rid your house of mice. If you put
some OIL OF PEPPERMENT (not pepperment extract, or flavor, it has to be OIL
OF PEPPERMENT) on cotton balls and leave them around the areas where your
mice-guests are, that will get them to vacate the place. You can get oil of
pepperment at health food, herb places, etc.
I read on the internet today that it also helps to rid your house of
unwanted ants.
