LIGHT RAIL 

IMPORTANT STREET RESTRICTION INFORMATION

 

Construction of the light rail system in Copper Square is progressing as
scheduled.  Actually, installation of rail has been smooth and in some cases
completed ahead of schedule.  This is good news for businesses, visitors and
residents.   According to METRO, the contractor is on-target to complete
major roadway work, including rail installation, in the Copper Square area
by the end of 2006! 

 

Listed below is information on upcoming rail installation activities
scheduled over the next two weeks:  

 

3rd ST / JEFFERSON INTERSECTION

 

Traffic Control:    Southbound 3rd Street prohibited at Jefferson.  All
vehicles will be diverted eastbound on Jefferson Street.

Timeline:  July 15 through August 24, 2006.  Intersection will be OPEN
August 25, 26, & 27 to accommodate special event traffic.  Restriction will
be set again August 28 and remain in place through mid-September.

Helpful Tips:

*	2 lanes on Jefferson will remain open.  
*	Southbound 3rd Street travel will be diverted eastbound on Jefferson
Street.
*	To access surface parking lots south of Jefferson - use 1st or 4th
streets.
*	To access the Jefferson Street Garage - head south on 3rd Street,
east on Jefferson and south on 4th Street to the entrance.   



 

 

 

1st AVE / JEFFERSON INTERSECTION

Traffic Control:    southbound travel on 1st Ave. at Jefferson, and
eastbound travel on Jefferson at 1st Ave. will be prohibited.

Timeline:    August 21 - late September

Helpful Tips:

*	Vehicles can turn from southbound 1st Ave. to eastbound Jefferson;
and from eastbound Jefferson to southbound 1st Ave. 
*	To travel south of Jefferson, use 7th Ave. or 1st Street.  
*	To travel east, use Van Buren, Fillmore, Jackson or Lincoln streets.
