12th St. roundabout

Wayne, Please don't think I am suggesting we should be wimpy. I think we
should very firmly let the City know that we expect to know what happened,
what specifically they are doing to fix it, the specific date it will be
completed, and who is the person with the city who will be held responsible
for either its successful completion or its failure. And then give them a
deadline for responding to that request. Being "polite" isn't being "wimpy"
-- to the contrary, it gives you a stronger position going forward.
"Polite" is the opposite of "rude," not the opposite of "strong." With a
little editing, your second paragraph below would be a very polite and firm
inquiry to the City.

While I have to agree with Tyler on approach, I have a hard time "allowing"
others to cause situations that then "expect" that no reaction will occur to
those affected. This is perhaps why I am in the trenches and not in the
board rooms.

I believe that, taking Tyler's suggestion, that several of those frustrated
others sent "polite" inquiries as to the status of the circle. Specifically
asking what the problem is and when remedy is expected. Those in Streets
Transportation should be able to reply with a detailed explanation that can
be posted on the discussion list. Something that would be more than "we are
working on it" "soon". Like what happened? And how is it being resolved?
It is answers to these kinds of questions that will satisfy neighbors and
lead to less frustration that result from the lack of "useful" information
that we can assimilate into out experience when we observe the reality of
the Circle.

I am incapable of doing so politely....anyone? Should be addressed to
Steve, Sara, and Ross....cc to the political figures.

Thanks for the information Wayne! Just so everyone knows, at the last

general meeting, GCNA overwhelmingly asked Wayne to speak for the

neighborhood on these traffic issues with the City.

I'll second Wayne's encouragement to (politely!) express your frustration to

the powers that be. And feel free to let them know that Wayne's not some

pain in the neck speaking only for himself -- he's a pain in the neck

speaking for all of us.

Please be encouraged to e-mail your frustrations to the following.

They believe Maureen and I are alone in our disappointment with the handling

of the neighborhood.

All of the following are acutely aware of what you are saying, but it comes

through me.....which well you know.

Ross Blakely, Director of Streets transportation Ross.Blakley at Phoenix.gov

Steve McKensie Neighborhood Management for Streets Transportation

steven.mckenzie at phoenix.gov

Sara Elco neighborhood management for streets transportation

sara.elco at phoenix.gov

Please copy the mayor mayor.gordon at phoenix.gov

Councilmember Doug Lingner Doug.Lingner at Phoenix.gov

Transportation director for the city Tom Callow tom.callow at phoenix.gov

Annie Alvarado Neighbohood Services annie.alvarado at phoenix.gov

The delays were caused by the lack of co-ordination with the neighborhood

and the last minute revisions in the construction planning. They need to

know. And they all need to know that each other is being notified.
