Howdy all:
Virginia Market, on the NE corner of 7th Street and Virginia, has again
changed hands. The good news is that this time it is being run by the same
folks who have the convenience store on the SE corner of 7th Street and
Thomas, the Speedy Pit Stop. Neal and his wife (whose name I suddenly can't
remember) are 6 days a week at Speedy, they have great employees and the
place is neat and clean, with lots of stuff. They also do deli, gyros (I
had one of the gyros, very good), pizza, salads, etc, etc. I think Speedy
has been a great addition to the neighborhood.
Neal's brother Anton is running Virginia Market. I spoke with him today and
he's going to be tiling floors, tearing out the rotten stuff in there and
putting in new counters, etc. He plans to do deli, gyros, etc. They do
sell beer and wine there as well. Anton is also very interested in cleaning
up the exterior and making the landscaping look good. I hope you take a
moment to stop by Virginia Market and encourage them in their efforts to
make it the great little neighborhood store that it could be.

PS. There's another new store in the same lot: Laffy Taffy, offering
"exotic dancewear" and such. Yes, clothes for strippers. Which I guess
makes sense since one could hardly be a stripper with nothing to strip off .
