McDowell Redevelopment Plan

Just an FYI,

 

Donna Reiner, Steve Procaccini and myself all attended a Meeting with Vice
Mayor Doug Lingner and other City personel to present and get support for
the McDowell Redevelopment Plan.  Steve has been very active in this plan.
We all attended as residents of Coronado to participate as individuals with
a common goal, the improvement of McDowell Road from the fairgrounds on the
west to the 51 on the east.

 

Below was the agenda, and attached are the points that I presented. For
those interested.

 

AGENDA:

*Extension of Historic Overlay/crime issues (Encanto-Palmcroft)

 

*Overdue Development Plan for McDowell Road area (boundaries Fairgrounds to
Piestewa Freeway, Thomas to 1-10 or 202?) Should be tied to Fairgrounds
study ($2.6MM funded by Bond issue)(Gerry McCue)

 

*Residential and Commercial development as impacted by Historic Overlays

    -Working "with" developers for standards (Wayne Murray)

      Inclusion of Affordable Housing (Marin Vogel)

 

*Inclusion of Affordable Housing (Martin Vogel) *Transportation issues:

    -Creating a pedestrian friendly environment that promotes circulation
between neighborhoods with trees and shade

    -Traffic/Parking (Historic McDowell Now?)

    -Bus stops and shelters adequate for year around use (Donna Reiner)

    -Connections with Metro Rail

    -Upgrading Bicycle Paths

*Streetlights appropriate to the environment (Wayne Murray)

 

 

Hope to see a few of you out there on Saturday morning at the Circle.  A
great opportunity to meet the vice mayor.  Temporay "Gorilla Art" for the
traffic circle is welcome to be displayed on the weekends when there is not
construction.
