The announced road closure for 12th and Oak Streets (June 26-30) has been postponed, in case you didn't notice this morning. The roads remain open awaiting unspecified "utility work." Stay tuned. (Or watch for a future Road Closure Advisory in your mail.)

They tore out half of the circle and repoured it because the concrete "had imperfections," I'm told. Same size. And bigger is better!! It slows the traffic. (Wayne and I have video of the series of smaller circles on Butler off Central, which he could drive his giant diesel truck straight through without ever taking his foot off the gas. We don't want that. (I'll spare you the movie ;-))

Not to worry--it is designed with buses and fire trucks in mind, as is everything the Streets department does.

One question about the circle: Others I've seen have the corners radiused to match the circle. This one has squared corners. Essentially, it's a round peg in a square hole and leaves a pretty narrow passage - especially for busses.

It looks like today, they tore out some of what they've done. Maybe the circle was too big?

Construction seems to have lessened the rush hour traffic!! Here's hoping that the finished circle will have the same effect!
(In truth, this photo was taken at 8 am Saturday.)
