Hi to all GCNA neighbors,
In November, I will be embarking on an incredible journey. I will be
walking 60 miles in three days, 20 miles a day to raise money and awareness in the
fight against breast cancer. The money will be raised for the Susan B.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer
Fund. I'm walking for many reasons, my immediate family and I have been
fortunate in that we have not been affected by breast cancer. I have many
friends who have not been quite so lucky. I'm walking to honor lives lost and to
celebrate those that are survivors. I'm walking because I have the health
and energy to do this and to reach out to my community asking for help in my
fund raising efforts. I'm presently training with a team and we are walking
very early every morning to beat the hot desert heat. Thousands of people
will be walking in Phoenix in November and we will be sleeping overnight in
tents. My hopes are that some day through research this disease will be
completely eradicated and my family, friends and all others will not have to come
face to face with breast cancer. Won't you please help out and show your
support as a community in this fight against breast cancer? I have to raise
$2200 in order to walk. My personal goal is to raise $4000. Your donation
will go towards research, education and help those that can't afford the costs
of screening and medical bills. You can donate through my website at
_www.The3Day.org/Arizona06/lorrainewherty_
(http://www.The3Day.org/Arizona06/lorrainewherty) . Net proceeds benefit The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
and the National Philanthropic Trust funding breast cancer research, education
and treatment.
Thank you all in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Lorraine Wherty
