CENTRAL PHOENIX
DISCUSSION LIST SERVE
What is the
Central
Phoenix
Discussion List Serve:
This is an automated mailing list, or
List server, which allows you to exchange e-mail messages automatically with
others who have subscribed to the list.
In
order to take part, you have to join (add link to join here) and you have to
accept that e-mail will be sent to you via the list. This can be a great place
for discussion, but by joining, you agree to be a part of a community, accept
the rules, the messages, and the occasional controversial idea.
We believe this list serve is a great
"entry point" into the Coronado Neighborhood Community, for those who
have just moved into the area or those who are just interested in becoming
actively involved in the area. There are no membership or fee requirements to
join.
You will be getting e-mail from people
you do not know. Please do not join if
you do not understand what this list is for. However, if you're ready to be part of a vibrant exchange of ideas, please
read our rules and guidelines, and then join the fun!
What is this LIST FOR?
This list is intended primarily for
those interested in the Greater Coronado Neighborhood. The I-10 North to
Thomas, and 7th Street East to the 51. This is one of the places to get
neighborhood announcements. The neighborhood newspaper, The Dispatch and GCNA
General Meetings on the first Thursday of the month, are other resources of
information. The GCNA does regularly post information on this site but is not
liable for the content of the discussion list. We encourage the participation
of individuals outside of the boundary areas who may share similar
interests. This is a place to have fun,
get help, and share opinions, as we specify in the guidelines below. If at any
time you decide to leave this community, you can unsubscribe just by selecting
the link which appears on every message.
What are the GUIDELINES?
You must read to them and agree to them
before you can join. This list is a cooperative project, which has graciously
donated space on the server for this list and is helping administer it.
PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THESE RULES:
1. While we encourage the free exchange of
ideas, we discourage the use of insulting language, profanity, or obscenity. If
you need to be less than polite to your fellow neighbor please spare the rest
of us and reply privately. If you insist
on using this type of language you will receive private e-mails requesting you
discontinue. We will fight for the
rights of all to use and enjoy this discussion group without hesitation. So, write well and play nice.
2. This list serve is open to all
topics. We encourage discussions and
questions; we discourage messages on topics guaranteed to inflame. The simple
use of common sense goes a long way
.
A. We prohibit messages which discriminate
against or disparage anyone based on race, religion, gender, national origin,
ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, physical characteristics or handicap.
B. We
prohibit messages which discuss or support software piracy, obscenity, or any
other criminal act.
3. By accepting a subscription you
acknowledge that it is possible material you might find objectionable may find
its way to your mailbox. Your use of the service constitutes your acceptance of
that mail, and you agree to hold us harmless for the content of any mail
transmitted as part of this list. If you disagree with this policy, please
unsubscribe now.
4. The opinions expressed on this list
are those of the authors of each e-mail and not necessarily ours. Any technical
or buying advice given as part of this list should be seen as opinion, and any
action taken on the basis of that opinion is accepted as your own risk.
5. We ask that you exercise caution and
personal responsibility when posting. Remember that any e-mail that is posted
to this list is sent to everyone that subscribes. For your own safety and security, you should
keep personal information at a minimum, or send a private message, and always
assume that a less than well intentioned person may be reading.
You agree to:
A. Be polite in all posts to this list, and if you need to be less than
polite, make your reply a private message to the person with whom you have
issues. This list serve is set up so that the default is set to reply to the
sender, not the entire list. If you wish to send to the entire list, you will
need to perform the extra step and click "reply to all". This allows you to think twice before sending
to the entire list of subscribers, giving you the time necessary to establish
if your message is appropriate for the entire neighborhood to view. It also keeps threads that may not be of
interest beyond the first few responses from filling your in-box (You will
still receive the first post so you will not miss anything you may desire to
explore).
B. Never post "Unsubscribe"
messages to the list. It's not needed and it's unfair to the others.
C. Never post "spam" messages to the list.
D. The maximum allowable space to post is 1MB. Your e-mail will be rejected if you post
above this limit.
E. Using this list to "mine" e-mails for use other that its
purpose is inappropriate and prohibited.
F.
This list is self moderating. If you have a problem with someone's post to
the serve please send them a private suggestion, and attempt to refrain from
inflammatory public reprimands.
G.
You agree not to forward to the list
serve, private messages that were intended to remain private and not posted to
the list serve. This will be considered inflammatory posting in all cases.
H. Images and
Attachments. You are welcome to add images and attachments to your
posts. However, please be aware
that subscribers to the digest format will not see the images.
Attachments are not included in the digest.
J. Please “trim”
your posts. Many of our subscribers receive your messages
in the digest format and must scroll down each full post to see the
all messages. Including lengthy thread histories discourages
subscribers from reading the entire digest. If the poster is responding to a digest message then they
should delete the entire digest. If they want to delete everything except
the message to which they are responding, that's fine, but that's a lot of
effort. If the poster is responding to an individual message with a lengthy
thread history, they can delete all but the immediate message to which they are
responding. Of course they don't even have to include
that. Digesters personally like to see the previous message included
as a point of reference.
This List Serve Is Self Moderated:
We invite
you and encourage “you” to self-moderate your incoming mail. If you desire to
moderate your incoming mail do so with "your" delete button and filters, which you can set as preferences on your
computer. This list serve empowers you to do so because of the following rules:
Persons are allowed one e-mail address (you know from whom the e-mail
originates). You are not permitted to change the subject in a thread (you know
what thread you want to delete). This
provision allows each person to be their own moderator, customizing their
interaction on the list serve without interfering with the customization of
others. This avoids the need for someone reaching the delete button on “your”
personal computer and making those personal decisions on your behalf.
Your use of this list signifies your
acceptance of these simple rules, as well as to any other rules of usage which
may be added or amended from time to time. If you use common sense, a little
courtesy, and a sense of humor, this list will be a benefit to everyone.
Thanks for joining our online community.
Enjoy, and help it grow!
