SUGGESTIONS AS TO HOW TO POST EFFECTIVELY
AND PERSONALLY DESIGN YOUR INTERACTION WITH THE EMAIL EXCHANGE SO THAT IT WILL SUIT YOUR CORONADO NEED

This information can also help you to communicate effectively in your personal e-mail with your friends outside of Central City Discuss, e-mail is new to a lot of people and imporving on our skills in this form of communication is a benefit to those sending and recieving. Ivana Olson a member of this group has contributed some very helpful suggestions. please send any additional suggestions to be added to this list.

You will recieve and send intormation in an e-mail format. there is no sign in and password login once you have initially signed up. Just send as you would any e-mail to:
central-phoenix-discuss-@centralphoenix.org

You can attach files such as Photos and PDF files. You can also sent links and HTML pages. This can be helpful in descriptions for pets, selling or renting, or just sharing.

Gmail - For those of you on digest who just don't like how digest leaves out some messages and jumbles others while never displaying pictures, but you don't want to commit to the hassle of a million separate messages, try getting a Gmail.com e-mail address. Gmail lumps your e-mails together by subject so that messages from the same thread of conversation all go into one link on your inbox. It makes it so much easier to follow group conversations. They also give you somewhere in the neighborhood of 7000MB of storage space so you never have to delete your e-mails. You just click "archive" and then if you decide you need that e-mail later (like to find a plumber referral or something) you can just search for it (like typing in the word "Plumber"). This is a excellent way to establish a second e-mail account to keep this neighborhood information coming in realtime without filling up your regular e-mail box. Here is a great suggestion regarding this.......sign up as coronado(yournamehere)@gmail.com this is unique enough that it probableY will not be a taken gmail account and we will know you on the exchange as that name. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO TO YOUR G-MAIL ACCOUNT AND ENABLE THE "ALLOW IMAGES" SO THAT YOU WILL RECIEVE YOUR POSTINGS WITH THE IMAGES.....PEOPLE ON THE EXCHANGE ARE CREATIVE AND SEND SOM COOL STUFF.......

To many posts and cluttering your inbox? I don't like some of the postings? we don't believe in moderation by others so check the above suggestions to modify and moderate your participation, that allows "you" to customize your subscribership to your taste.....check when you want, but recieve all the information available to do so. see g-mail above......

TinyURL - For long links (the kind that have a million characters will all sorts of /'s and -'s in them) go to www.tinyurl.com and copy your link into their tinyurl generator. You can then copy paste the smaller link they give you (it will be something like www.tinyurl.com/6) and it will still point to the same place your original link pointed to.  This saves on a lot of broken links (links that don't work) and removes the clutter from your message.

Do not post personal information like "I always hide my house key under the stone bird on my porch". Ask in your posting that the reply be sent direcly back to you so that you can make farther contact. If you cut and paste content from a prior e-mail you recieve it is always a good idea to clean it up by takinging out the other e-mail addresses that are in the forwarded message. This way it is out to the group without all the other informaiton. Remember when you reply to all (back to the group) to also clean up the "to:" line prior to sending. This keeps multiple messages from being sent, it also gives you a chance to think "reply to the group or to the individual".

If you are sending out something to the list serve and also including friends or others in the “to” or the “cc” area the message will most likely get caught in the system for having too many recipients.  This protection is so that your additional "to"and "cc" do not get dropped into everyone mailbox and then copied in the subsequent replies to all.  It is just cleaner and saves those who are not subscribed from the responses.  Send out one to your friends and another separate to the list serve.

If you change a subject.  For example hit “reply to all” then change the subject, the recipients then receive the e-mail with the incorrect subject and may self monitor by deleting the message.or pass over information that they would be interested in. Also the digesters that receive messages on a weekly basis may miss your message.  New subject-Originate New e-mail.

Once a topic may seems to have run its course, it saves our in-boxes if the interested parties may offer to take the discussion offline between interested parties.  Example, “anyone interested in farther discussion on XXXXX hit me back”.

There has been an increase in the subscribership to the list serve and to help us all out it important that we monitor how we can keep it a vibrant form of neighborhood communication.

I personally love all the stories, and making new aquaintences in the Coronado. As is mentioned throughout the year it is always a good time for a little face to face get-together so that we can meet in the real world and get to know each other beyond the computer
